    Two students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur were assaulted and stabbed by three of their seniors after an argument broke out between them over queue-jumping at a music concert on Sunday night.

    The concert featuring Bollywood's famous music director duo Salim-Sulaiman was held as part of the annual Antaragini cultural festival.

    Three senior students assaulted two BTech students who were deployed to maintain order during the concert. Aman Meena, a third-year BTech student, and his colleagues were tasked with taking care of the concert's security arrangements. Three fourth-year students, Varun Dev, Dinesh Ram and Adarsh ​​tried to force their way in and when Aman stopped them, an argument ensued. The seniors then attacked him with a knife.

    The students allegedly assaulted, pushed, abused and assaulted the victim with a knife due to which Aman's right hand was cut. Meanwhile, Aman's colleague also suffered an injury on his hand.

    The victims approached the Kalyanpur police station and lodged a complaint against the accused. The victim reported that he suffered a serious injury to his thumb in the attack. Mayank Sharma and Ishan Saxena became witnesses in the case.

    ACP Kalyanpur Vikas Kumar Pandey said that a report has been registered against three B.Tech students under the sections of assault with a sharp weapon. The footage of the CC cameras installed at the site is being downloaded and investigated, the official said.

    "An FIR has been registered under Section 324 of the IPC (causing hurt) against the three identified students - Varun Dev, Adarsh ​​and Dinesh Ram," the police said.
